This is the results of a poll taken on campus of ninth through 12th-grade students. Students were asked to choose the top 10 trends for 2025.
This year was filled with sensational microtrends that went viral overnight. TikTok is a major social media platform that has an algorithm that spreads videos quickly to new viewers, which is part of what makes virality so instant.
The top trends from this year were Labubus, Dubai chocolate, Sambas (the shoe), jorts, Birkenstock logs and animal print. Some of these trends last a while throughout all social media platforms, while others die out in a few days. These trends can be the start of someone’s career or inflate their following. These trends can be aesthetics, clothes and purely for enjoyment. It is not cheap, but people still rave about it and buy it.
Social media continues to evolve every single day. The trends that create our online experiences now may be the stepping stones for the next digital revolution, urging us to stay not just informed, but also to keep us critically engaged with the platforms we use daily.
