This playlist shows many of the songs that were popular in 2025 and topped many students' Spotify playlists.
2025 has been the year of new music, top albums and hit songs, some of which are old music trends making a comeback. Social media impacts the wave of music with its various dances and trends, making songs pop off on the charts.
“[A huge factor of] Hip hop trending today is because of TikTok, its dances and other trends, affecting [the way] our generation [listens to music],” sophomore Malachi Payne said. “When people hear rap, [some] instantly fall in love with it and forget about other music.”
Songs such as “WENT WEST” by BabyChiefDoit (also known as Baby Chief), “Love Me Not” by Ravyn Lenae, “BUMBAA PT. 2” by Ohthatsmizz and Sturdyyoungin, “Nokia” by Drake and “The Fate Of Ophelia” by Taylor Swift are notable because of their rhythm, melody and clever word choice.
“Baby Chief popped off this year because of the way he flows. If you were to go on Google and look up how to rap, Baby Chief would probably be the first person that comes up,” freshman Alffis Pena said. “Artists like BossMan Dlow and Rod Wave are known because of the way they flow, [being recognizable by their unique sounds].”
Overall, albums from 2025 were constantly streamed and extremely popular, a catchy backtrack to the sensational year we had.
