With the first quarter wrapped up, whether you feel proud, stressed or somewhere in between, now is the perfect time to reflect.
“I feel nervous because this is it, and it’s going faster than you expected it to be. It’s sad, because this is the last of many events that have happened already. It’s also exciting because there are things coming up later in the year,” senior Adyson Glass said.
For seniors, this is their last first quarter of their high school careers. Many feel sad that their high school experience is approaching its end. For freshmen, however, their high school lives are only just beginning.
“My first quarter was good. I know a lot of people, and I like my classes. I also feel like I have more freedom,” freshman Maxwell Corley said.
While freshmen are struggling with the transition from middle to high school, many teachers have needed to adapt to their new class schedules.
“I teach three different preps, and none of them are back-to-back. So because my schedule is different every period, I am always trying to figure out what class I’m teaching for the first five or 10 minutes of class,” social studies teacher Jeremy Mello said.
As the first quarter closes and the second quarter begins, from the freshmen just starting high school to the seniors preparing their goodbyes, everyone has something to take away from this first quarter. Whether it is finding ways to adapt or simply appreciating small moments, this first quarter marks growth for everyone. With the rest of the year coming up, there are numerous things to look forward to.
