Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (Coachella) is one of the biggest music festivals in the United States. Many people visit their favorite artists, even discover new ones, and it allows viewers to befriend others with similar interests.
Every year, Coachella features a diverse lineup spanning hip-hop, rock, international music and electronic dance music. Headliners like Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G will perform at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California or Coachella. Other major artists, such as Addison Rae and The Strokes, will also perform at Coachella.
“I’m excited to see Justin Bieber on the Coachella Stage because I’m a fan of his songs, specifically Yukon,” freshman Kaiden Jenkins said.
About 140 rising artists perform at Coachella every year, with most of them making their debut at the festival. Artists such as KATSEYE and Central Cee will perform on the Sahara stage for their first Coachella. Other artists, such as Pinkpantheress, will perform on the Mojave stage, while Sombr will perform on the Outdoor Theatre Stage.
“Coachella is a great place to start when finding new music because it includes a lot of genres being performed,” freshman Paris Williams said. “It helps you decide what kind of music you’re into.”
Over the years, social media has shifted attention towards fashion, with attendees planning extravagant outfits to wear, treating it like a runway. While fashion may be rising in popularity, the music is still active. People can express their identity and themselves through fashion while attending sets, creating a cultural event for everyone.
“Social media has changed the focus from music to fashion over the years because a lot of influencers plan fancy outfits, which indicates the priority of aesthetic over actually enjoying the performances,” Jenkins said.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a great opportunity to meet new people who share a love for music. By watching performances together, singing together, and discovering new artists, it can create a bond that’s special. The festival creates a safe space for people who are passionate about music, adding a feeling of freedom.
“It’s a good event that brings people together by joining communities related to your music taste,” Williams said.
Coachella allows visitors from all around the world and at home to watch their favorites, explore new artists, and build new friendships through the power of music. It brings people together, whether it’s planning matching outfits or watching artists shine on stage.
