Diverse language classes give students the opportunity to explore new cultures and enhance communication skills. These courses can also help connect students with different backgrounds and increase diversity within a community.
One benefit of taking language classes is being able to see the world in different ways. They can also prepare students for future endeavors, such as studying abroad and employment.
“Having a language class allows me to see vocabulary from two different sides, not just from the way they speak but also how they process the information in their brain,” freshman Meisa Hutt said.
One major academic benefit of taking a foreign language course is building literary skills and improving grammar in both English and a second language.
“It’s beneficial to have different language classes because it helps you refresh certain topics, like grammar that you may have forgotten,” freshman Sophia Nickerson said.
When you graduate from high school, you may want to study abroad. Language courses can help you succeed in the future, depending on where you would like to study.
“Taking a language class can help you use your words properly,” junior Marisol Cervantes-Huapilla said. “My Spanish teacher always tells me that native speakers know how to speak it but don’t really know about it, so it’s a great opportunity to learn the language and the culture in the long run.”
As a whole, language classes can improve the diversity of our school and can connect us as a community. The more opportunities our school offers, the more enlightened our students will become.
“The more our school provides, the more diversity we have,” Hutt said. “When students are exposed to different languages and cultures, we can connect better with people from different backgrounds.”
