Ar’Tavian “Bubba” Brown, a four-star receiver, is back at Florida High for his junior and senior season. After spending 2025 at Lowndes High School, the Noles have regained one of their most explosive playmakers. Now home again, Bubba steps into a season filled with expectation, opportunity and something to prove.
“I have to prove that I’m the best when I step on the field each time, whether it’s on my team or against the opposing team, because everybody is looking to win a rep over me,” Brown said.
Brown clearly has a lot to prove for this upcoming season, not only because of his stars and offers, but because returning to his original team puts him right back under the Tallahassee spotlight. There’s pressure to show he’s grown, that he’s ready to lead and that coming back to Florida High was the right decision.
“My whole life I made sacrifices and took opportunities, and they never led me wrong. I always gained something from it, but coming back home was the best for me and my family to have everything we needed. There is no better place to finish than where you started,” Brown said.
Bubba’s choice to come back home didn’t just change his environment, but also his team.
“Bubba brings a different type of leadership to the team and just great energy to the locker room,” said senior football player Gavin Brown.
Not only did he reshape his team, but he also reshaped the way people around him guided and pushed him. Returning to Florida High put him back with the coaches who watched him grow up, but now see him through a different perspective, expecting more from him than just talent.
“My relationship with my coaches now is way different, and the coaches treat me like a younger brother. Every coach wants me to try to come in and be myself, and they keep it real with me whether it’s good or bad. As to when I was a younger player, I was always getting praised because I was the best player on the field or court,” Brown said.
Coming back to Florida High also reminded Bubba of the small things that made this place feel like home. Being around familiar faces and routines brought back memories he didn’t realize he missed as much as he did.
“I missed the people, the shack, running down the hill, and the impact I have on all the younger kids knowing it’s a K-12 school. I have to be a positive representation of Florida High no matter where I am,” Brown said.
